Frequently asked questions.
What are your fees and how do you work with insurance?
The fee for a 50-minute session is $150. I offer a discount if you choose to opt into a monthly membership (4, 50-minute sessions at a fee of $120 per session). At this time I do not accept insurance. If your insurance benefits include “out of network” mental health or behavioral health, you may be able to get reimbursed. I am happy to provide you with an invoice (“super bill”) to submit to your insurance. Payment is expected at the time of service. Payments may be made by Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card, and American Express. Services are also typically FSA or HSA eligible. If you have one of these accounts please check to see if counseling is a covered service. Additionally, a sliding scale is available for qualifying clients.
Are my sessions confidential?
Yes, your information and session details are kept confidential. You can waive confidentiality if you want to share details with other professionals or individuals. The exception to confidentiality is if there is concern that you may hurt yourself or someone else. In this situation, I would break confidentiality to ensure the safety of yourself or another person.
How does therapy work?
The first few therapy sessions focus on the initial assessment of your presenting concerns and symptoms. I will ask many questions to understand what brings you to therapy and factors influencing how you are feeling. Together we will create your treatment plan and goals in a manner that is compassionate, warm and caring. We will work closely on your goals and progress towards sucessful outcome. Most clients are seen once a week, however, bi-weekly or monthly therapy sessions might also be appropriate. Currently all therapy sessions are provided via Telehealth (video, phone and live chat options provided).
What happens if I need to cancel a session?
I understand that life can be unpredictable and things happen. I respectfully request that you provide at least 24 hours if you are not able to attend a scheduled appointment. If less than 24 hours notice is provided, the full fee will be charged for the session.
